Child Care Professional
General Summary:
The Child Care Professional provides guidance and supervises the daily living experience for the residents of Hanna Boys Center. The Child Care Professional (CCP) is responsible for the fundamental task of helping each boy develop socially appropriate behaviors. The CCP also coordinates cottage activities, oversees discipline, and guides the daily group meetings.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow HBC policies and procedures at all times.
- Respect and adhere to HBC Catholic moral values.
- Punctual and faithful in conforming to assigned hours and work.
- Develop a sound professional rapport with both staff and residents.
- Observe safety rules and emergency procedures.
- Chart and administer medications as directed.
- Implement treatment plans.
- Attend weekly in-service training and apply principles learned in meetings.
- Facilitate group meetings.
- Plan new activities and trips for cottage.
- Establish clear boundaries for the residents.
- Implement crisis intervention skills as needed.
- Administer discipline and process with the residents in follow-up discussions.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment for the residents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor degree preferably in the Human Services area or experience in Child Care setting.
- Able to be certified in CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention.
- Drivers License, ability to be insured under our policy.

The workweek consists of 3 ½ consecutive days (sleepovers are required). Starting Salary: $27,000 per year, based on education and experience, plus paid sleepovers of $25 per sleepover. Room and board is provided for all Child Care Professionals. Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance benefits are available to all full time employees. Additionally, CCP’s are eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation and 11 paid holidays each year.
