Campus Ministry

The Campus Ministry program at Archbishop Hanna High School provides many opportunities for our boys to develop their faith through appropriate and meaningful experiences. Sunday Mass is provided for the boys (all attend regardless of faith orientation) by our Executive Director, Fr. John Crews. The boys can volunteer to actively participate in these liturgies through the Dominic Savio Altar Society. They can act as altar servers, lectors, readers, ushers, and cross bearers, as well as participate in our choir. Training for these positions is provided each week, as well as practice for the following Sunday. The boys also participate in feast day specific liturgies such as St. Francis’ blessing of the animals, All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, The Immaculate Conception, The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Easter Vigil and graduation. The boys also participate in various prayer services, including the praying of the rosary.

In addition to these opportunities in the chapel, the boys have an opportunity to prepare for the sacraments of the Catholic Church through a formal training program which takes place each Wednesday during tutorial period and lasts throughout the year. In the program, they are taught the basic teachings of the Catholic Church, specific prayers and an in-depth understanding of the sacraments, specifically Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Boys volunteer for the sacraments program and an average of 20 students participate each year.

Each boy at Hanna takes a Religion course as part of their educational curriculum. In addition to this, the boys have other activities and experiences to help them grow as persons of faith. Morning and night prayer start and finish the day for the boys. Retreats are also part of the program. There are grade level retreats for 8th, 9th and 10th grades. These are day- long retreats. Overnight retreats are provided for the three group homes and the boys in the sacraments class have their own retreat.
