Transitional Housing Program for Non Minor Dependents expands housing and service support for young people aged 18-21 years old currently in foster care under the placement and care of the county welfare department or county probation department with a transitional independent living case plan. With a safe and secure environment, enhanced by one on one work with highly trained staff, THP-NMD participants have the support and resources necessary to transition to housing independence.

THP-NMD participants are taught a variety of life skills, including cooking, budgeting, finding employment and preparing for life as they transition to independent housing.

A unique housing program

Hanna Center THP-NMD program is unique in participants will be involved in individualized, independent living plans (ILP), as developed in continuity with the participants and Hanna staff. Participants will receive mentoring services from staff and attend meetings and/or trainings to help participants independent living skills. Our participants are also eligible for Alumni Services – (link to alumni services page) after 90 days (3 months) in the THP-NMD Program.


THP-NMD ILP Plans will address participant concerns/areas of growth as well as provide support, education, and resources around life skills we have found to be beneficial for success. Some of these skills include but are not limited to: 

  • Nutrition, food handling, and cooking skills. 
  • Home cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and sanitation
  • Computer and internet basics
  • Hygiene and healthcare
  • Cultural competency 
  • Budgeting, banking, and credit
  • Transportation
  • Education and career planning
  • Employment, application, and credential assistance
  • Tax Filing assistance
  • Time management


Group Homes: Each group home has private, single-occupancy bedrooms, bathrooms, a living room, game room, study area with access to computers, laundry, a full kitchen and a dining room where residents can prepare and enjoy their meals.

Group meetings, circles and other activities in the residences encourage participants to communicate openly with each other, respect one another and treat each other well.
