Join clinicians, providers, and community members for an in-depth conversation on early psychosis, including expert insights from Director for the UC Davis EPI-CAL Network, Tara Niendam, Ph.D., a panel discussion including lived experience insights, and available resources. Lunch and CEU provided.

Intro to Psychosis 5/22/26

Learning Objectives –

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Define psychosis and differentiate symptoms on psychosis spectrum from clinically high risk (CHR) and full episode psychosis.

2. Identify early warning signs and risk factors associated with the onset of psychosis in adolescents and young adults.

3. Describe evidence-based assessment and early intervention strategies used in clinical settings, including coordinated specialty care models.

4. Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches when engaging individuals experiencing psychosis and their families.

5. Analyze the impact of stigma and systemic barriers on treatment access and outcomes for individuals with lived experience of psychosis.

6. Integrate insights from lived experience shared by panelists to inform more empathetic, recovery-oriented clinical practice.

7. Recognize appropriate referral pathways and community-based resources, including programs such as the UC Davis EPI-CAL Network.
