Camino Nuevo

A Healing-Centered Path for Newcomer Youth

Building Safety, Belonging, and Leadership

A culturally rooted, trauma-informed program supporting Spanish-speaking newcomer youth through healing, connection, and leadership development.

Camino Nuevo is a school-year-long process group created by Hanna Center to serve Spanish-speaking newcomer youth, ages 14–18. The program responds to the realities of unaccompanied minors and recently arrived youth navigating trauma, migration, and isolation.

Grounded in healing justice, Camino Nuevo creates a safe and culturally affirming space where participants can explore identity, practice resilience, and celebrate cultural roots. Through weekly sessions delivered entirely in Spanish, youth build emotional skills, cultural pride, and leadership capacity. Guided by trained facilitators, participants gain tools for connection, self-expression, and advocacy that extend well beyond the classroom.
