“My time at Hanna felt like finding the brotherhood I’d always wanted.”
~Victor P., 2022 Graduate
Hanna transformed my life in ways I never imagined. When I arrived, I was a troubled kid who frequently got suspended and picked fights. Thanks to a particular staff member who invested their time in me, I discovered boxing, which really helped to channel my aggression into a positive passion.
The support I received at Hanna was life changing. The vice principal offered understanding and encouragement when I needed it most. Despite doubts from others, including my family, Hanna showed me I could graduate high school. They taught me resilience, pushing me to finish when I wanted to quit.
My time at Hanna felt like finding the brotherhood I’d always wanted. Some of my favorite memories are the chaotic water polo games between group homes and the fun we had playing tag and just having a lot of fun during our senior retreat; I will always feel proud to be a member of the Hanna Brotherhood.
Now, I’m pursuing my dream of becoming a barber. I plan to attend cosmetology school this fall. My ultimate goal is to combine my two passions and open a barbershop with a boxing ring.
Even though I’ve graduated, Hanna is still there for me, helping me solve real-world problems as I work to become financially independent.
