From Gil Scott to Future: Resiliency Through Musical Expression
This workshop will delve into generational trauma by examining the song lyrics of various artists from different musical eras. Through careful analysis of artists’ lyrics, participants will explore how social and mental health issues echo across generations and evolve from decade to decade. Through this process, the participants can engage in dialogue on these social and mental health issues impacting their profession and relate the artists’ experiences to their populations. Lastly, this workshop will aid participants with strategies to support resilience in the communities they serve.
